Carter McFarland is in his first season as a Graduate Assistant with the Tulane women's swimming and diving program. In his current capacity, McFarland assists with the day-to-day operations for the team, which include team travel, equipment and serving as the meet director for home competition.Â
McFarland arrived in New Orleans after spending two years at Iona College where he served as the director of operations for men's and women's water polo. In that role, Scarsdale, N.Y., native assisted head coach Brian Kelly with all administrative duties and coordinated all parent and alumni relations.
In addition to his time at Iona, McFarland served as the assistant boys swimming coach at Fordham Prep in Bronx, N.Y. where he helped guide his squad to the 2017 New York State Championship. His 2017 championship team featured six individuals that earned National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) All-America honors.
McFarland earned his bachelor's degree in Communications from Loyola (Md.) in 2016. During his time at Loyola, McFarland was a four-year letterwinner on the men's swimming and diving team. He also was named to the Patriot League's All-Academic team.Â
