Prior to Tulane: Barberie made the switch from the national level artistic swimming to competitive speed swimming starting with the 2022-23 season. She was the provincial high school champion in the 100 breast in 2023. Barberie earned the bronze in 200 breast and a silver in the 100 breast at the Canadian Western Championships in the 2024. She took fourth in the 18 and under (junior) category in the 200 breast at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials.
