Joe Prisco started his first year at Tulane in July 2022 as the Director of Strategic Communications. In the role, he serves as the secondary football contact while handling primary duties for the women’s bowling team, the women's basketball team and the indoor and outdoor track & field program.
Prior to Tulane, Prisco was working as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Dillard University from February 2020 – July 2022. In the role, the 18-year veteran of the field, oversaw the athletic media relations/marketing department and also aided in the running of athletic event operations for all 14 sports on the Dillard campus.
In 2022, he helped promote Dillard winning the Thomas Howell Cup for the first time since 2016. DU ended up capturing conference titles during his final year in men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s track & field, women’s track & field and volleyball (regular season). Under his watch this year, Dillard captured nine All-American honors - six in men’s outdoor track & field (Jamaal Morris Jr. (2), Cody Branch, Joshun Noel, Christopher Watson) and one each in women’s outdoor track & field (Kevell Byrd), men’s indoor track & field (Jamaal Morris Jr.) and women’s indoor track & field (Kevell Byrd).
Also this year, Prisco nabbed a cover story feature in the College Basketball Times on women’s basketball senior guard Rayah Haynes. He helped promote the national attention garnered by former Athletic Director Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes through a wide variety of her personal endeavors and outreach efforts. Prisco also helped Dillard Athletics Department unveil its new athletic website on PrestoSports this season plus oversaw the additional coverage responsibilities of seven new sports during the 2021-22 school year (men’s indoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, competitive dance, competitive cheerleading and baseball) to bring the total number of sports hosted at Dillard University up to 14.
During his time at Dillard, Prisco helped promote 204 selections to the GCAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, 162 All-Conference selections between the GCAC and the Southern States Athletic Conference, 72 GCAC individual weekly award honorees, 24 Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, 22 Arthur Ashe Scholarship Award Winners, 15 NAIA All-Americans, eight NAIA Scholar-Athlete Teams, seven GCAC All-Tournament selections, six GCAC Conference Champions, five GCAC Coaches of the Year, four Louisiana Sports Writers Association selections, CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, two GCAC Athletic Director of the Year honors, two GCAC Athletic Trainers of the Year and one AVCA All-Region selection.
Prior to his time at Dillard, Prisco served as the Assistant Media Relations Director at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) (MN). During his time at SCSU, Prisco oversaw the communications efforts for the sports of football, basketball, softball, volleyball, track & field and cross country while aiding with the sports of hockey, wrestling, golf and tennis plus general office duties.
Before St. Cloud State, Prisco worked at East Carolina University (NC) as the Assistant Media Relations Director working with the sports of football, softball, cross country and track & field.
Prior to East Carolina, Prisco spent five years on staff as the Assistant Media Services Director at Campbell University (NC). Among his duties was working as the primary media contact with a football program that was restarted after a 50-year hiatus. He also worked during his time at Campbell with the sports of softball, swimming, track & field, cross country, tennis, baseball, volleyball and women’s basketball at various points.
No stranger to the college athletics scene, Prisco has spent the better part of the last 18 years working at various institutions of higher education throughout the country with stops at Saint Xavier University (IL), Coastal Carolina (SC), Notre Dame (IND) and Northern Colorado.
Prisco, an Illinois native, completed both his undergraduate, Speech Communication, and master’s degree, Sports Administration, from Eastern Illinois University.
