NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Cincinnati scored three times over the final 20 minutes to break open a tie game, as the Bearcats posted a 4-1 win over the Tulane women's soccer team at the Storm Soccer Field on Friday.
With the game deadlocked at 1-1, UC's Lauren Clark scored her second goal of the day to put the Bearcats up 2-1. Amy Rodeheffer added another goal six minutes later to push the Cincinnati advantage to 3-1. With Tulane pushing forward to pull a goal back, Rodeheffer struck again in the 84th minute to reach the final margin.
After a scoreless first half, Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead just six minutes after the break on a Lauren Clark goal. Tulane answered eight minutes later when Mandy Schumacher converted Samantha Cramer pass to level the scores at 1-1.
Cincinnati held a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 7-4 margin in corner kicks. Green Wave goalkeeper Jaclyn Urso recorded seven saves in the Tulane nets, while Katrina Smolarczyk notched four saves for Cincinnati.
Tulane returns to action on Sunday in its final home contest of the season, playing host to Louisville at the Storm Soccer Field. The Green Wave will honor its first class of four-year seniors, as Elyce Kirchner, Kate Mortland, Tami Prisco, Jaclyn Scalzo and Kristen Smeby will play in the final home game of their Green Wave careers. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
