CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 49ers of UNC Charlotte (9-11, 4-4) kept a strong attack against Tulane (9-9, 2-6), as they battled from behind in each of the three games played between the teams, and swept the Green Wave 3-0 on Friday night.
The Wave overcame an 11-7 49ers lead, as Liz Gruns served six straight
points, to put the Wave up 13-11 in game one, but UNCC battled to take the opener 16-14. In game two, Charlotte scored eight unanswered points to challenge a 9-7 Tulane lead and win 15-9. The match was sealed with a 15-12 take of game three, after a 9-1 49er run.
Tulane freshman, Britney Hurst hit .407, with a career and match high, 14 kills, while Kim Sentmore recorded 13 kills and 10 digs. Lacey Vicknair had a match high four blocks.
For Charlotte, Emily Bowers put down 12 kills and Marsha Waufle recorded a match high, 13 digs.
Tulane travels to St. Louis, MO, to take on the Billikens of Saint Louis on Sunday, Oct 17 at 2 p.m. The Green Wave returns home on Tuesday Oct. 19, as they play in state rival LSU at 7 p.m.
