CHICAGO - For the second consecutive week, Tulane cross country runner Hanne Lyngstad earned Conference USA Athlete-of-the-Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
Lyngstad, a junior from Elverum, Norway, won the Auburn Bank Invitational with a 5,000-meter time of 16:49.97. The time equaled her own school record and topped a field of 243 runners. She now has the top five 5,000-meter times in Green Wave cross country history.
It was the fourth time this season a Tulane runner has been named C-USA Athlete-of-the-Week and the eighth time in her career that Lyngstad has been so honored by the league office.
Tulane will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 9, as the squad is scheduled to compete at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
