NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball team (8-7, 2-4 C-USA) could not fight off an overpowering Lousiville (6-9, 4-2 C-USA) attack, as Cardinal Kelly McClain recorded 21 kills to push UL past the Green Wave 3-0 Friday evening.
The Green Wave challenged a 10-1 Louisville lead and pulled within four points of the Cardinals, 12-8, only to fall 15-9 in the first game of the match. Tulane went on to score the first three points of game two, but Louisville scored eight straight points and went on to take the game 15-8. The Cardinals won game three handily by the score of 15-9.
Tulane's Kim Sentmore had a team high 18 kills and 13 digs, while Lacey Vicknair had nine kills and three blocks. Freshman Lindsey Bennett recorded a match and career high six blocks.
For Louisville, McClain put down 21 kills and Lesley Drury followed with 14.
The Green Wave travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 1 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 10.
