NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane (12-16, 4-12 C-USA) volleyball team battled the Memphis Tigers (12-21, 4-12 C-USA) and took Sunday's match 3-2 as Kim Sentmore lead the Wave with a match high 24 kills.
The Tigers came out strong taking game one 15-9, but Tulane quickly pulled ahead winning games two and three 15-6 and 15-8. Memphis tied the match and sent the teams into a rally scoring game five with a 15-9 take of game four. The Green Wave prevailed taking the final game 15-13. Tulane is 3-0 in five-game matches in 1999.
Tulane had three players with double -double performances and six players with 10 or more digs. Against the Tigers, Sentmore recorded 10 digs to go with her 24 kills. Lacey Vicknair hit .351 with 22 kills and four blocks. Lindsey Bennett had 10 kills and 12 digs, while Erin Dobyanski recorded 12 kills, 12 digs and a match high six blocks. Other double-digit diggers include Jennifer Witte who had 10 digs along with 63 assists, and Linda Hallberg who had a team high 14 digs.
For Memphis Rosie Glenn, Ginger Garrett and April Harriman all put down 15 kills each, while Amie Hamilton posted a match high 19 kills.
Tulane heads into the post season as they travel to Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday to compete in the 1999 Conference USA Volleyball Championships, hosted by South Florida.
