NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane's (11-13) Kim Sentmore recorded a match high 26 kills and paved the way for a 3-1 Wave victory over cross town rival New Orleans (8-18) on Tuesday evening.
The match began neck and neck as the teams split games one and two. UNO took the opener 16-14, while Tulane battled to take game two 15-13. The Green Wave turned up the intensity and ran away with game three, 15-4, as Lacey Vicknair recorded seven kills and two blocks for Tulane. The Privateers fought an 11-5 Tulane lead in game four and came within two points of the Wave, but Jennifer Witte sealed the victory with a match point service ace.
For Tulane, Sentmore hit .278 with 26 kills, 18 digs and four blocks, while Vicknair put down 21 kills, marking the third consecutive match in which Vicknair has recorded 20 plus kills. Ashley Reese recorded 18 digs and Lindsey Bennett posted 12 kills. Witte had five kills, five digs and 64 assists.
For the Privateers, Rachel Maltzahn recorded 15 kills, while Jessica Perdue had 22 kills and 12 digs.
Tulane travels to Houston on Friday, Nov. 5, for a 7:30 p.m. match with the Cougars before heading to South Florida for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
