Garner Posts NCAA Provisional Qualifier

ATLANTA - Tulane track and field performer Lana Garner recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 400-meter dash at the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday in Atlanta.
Garner, a junior from San Diego, Calif., recorded a time of 53.55 seconds to finish ninth out of 27 competitors in the women's 400 meters. Her time was fast enough to provisionally qualify her for the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. It is the second consecutive season that Garner has qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Junior Charlotte Plummer finished sixth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.50 seconds. Plummer has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in this event.
The 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 2-5 in Boise, Idaho. The event will be hosted by Boise State University.
