Monhartova Earns LSWA Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane women's tennis standout Anna Monhartova was named Newcomer of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association, it was announced Friday.
Monhartova posted a 22-2 record in singles play this season to earn the recognition as the top new player in the state of Louisiana. In addition, she combined for an impressive 19-2 mark in doubles play with teammates Maiko Cook and Jessica Kessler.
Monhartova, a native of Plzen, Czech Republic, was also named first-team All-Louisiana by the LSWA after helping Tulane to just its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament. She also earned first-team All-Conference USA honors this season, the first Green Wave women's tennis player to receive such recognition.
The Louisiana Sports Writer's Association All-Louisiana men's team will be announced Saturday.
