Track Opens Competition at NCAA Outdoor Championships

BOISE, Idaho - Junior hurdler Edrige Darling was the first of five Tulane track team members to compete Wednesday at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Boise, Idaho.
Darling, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, finished fifth in preliminary heat No. 3 of the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.00 seconds. He did not advance to the finals. It was the first-ever appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for Darling, the reigning Conference USA champion in this event.
Four other Green Wave team members will be in action on Thursday, as senior Amos Kipyegon competes in the men's 1,500-meter run, senior Alison Lambert and junior Hanne Lyngstad compete in the women's 1,500-meter run and junior Lana Garner competes in the women's 400-meter dash.
The 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships run through Saturday, June 5 in Boise. Boise State University is hosting the event.
