New Orleans - Tulane Athletics Director Sandy Barbour announced Friday that the contract of volleyball coach Sonya Hanson will not be renewed.
Hanson recently completed her 10th season at Tulane, guiding the Green Wave to a 6-26 mark and an 11th-place finish in Conference USA. Her 10-year record with the Green Wave was 160-169.
Hanson led Tulane to five-straight seasons of .500 or better from 1990-94, but the program has suffered through four-consecutive losing seasons since.
"Everyone associated with our athletic program appreciated Sonya's hard work during her time with us and wishes her the very best," said Barbour. "We hope to move on and find the very best person possible to lead our volleyball program."
Barbour has appointed Senior Associate Athletic Director Scott Devine to conduct a national search for Hanson's replacement.
