CHICAGO - Tulane quarterback Patrick Ramsey was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Ramsey, a 6-foot-3, 228-pound sophomore from Ruston, La., passed for a school-record 404 yards in Tulane's 53-19 win over SMU on Saturday. He connected on 32-of-49 passes with three touchdowns and an interception in his first career start at home.
Ramsey is the first player in the 106-year history of Green Wave football to throw for more than 400 yards in a single game. His effort broke the previous mark of 388 yards passing by Terrence Jones vs. TCU in 1986.
It is the first time in his career that Ramsey has been so honored. Ramsey's attempts, completions, yardage and TD totals were all career highs.
Since 1996, 24 Tulane players have earned Conference USA Player of the Week accolades.
