NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane volleyball team improved to 6-6 on the season as they came out on top of a nail-biting five game match with New Orleans (6-7) in front of a season high crowd of 435 on Tuesday evening in Fogelman Arena.
After splitting the first two games of the match, 15-12, 8-15, Tulane overcame a 9-0 deficit to defeat the Privateers 15-12 in the third. UNO took game four, 15-4, and sent the match into a rally scoring fifth game. Tulane prevailed 15-12 and snapped a four match losing streak against the Privateers.
Lacey Vicknair recorded 17 kills, along with a hitting percentage of .256, and led the Wave with four blocks. Kim Sentmore was one of two Tulane players to post a double-double effort. Sentmore had 20 kills and 14 digs, while Lindsey Bennett recorded 15 kills, 10 digs and two service aces.
For UNO, Jessica Perdue tallied a match high 33 kills and 12 digs. Christy Levy had a match high, three service aces, 11 kills and 18 digs. Stacie Maratea recorded a match high, 19 digs.
Tulane travels to Memphis on Friday, Oct. 1st to play Conference USA rival at 7 p.m., before heading to UAB for a Sunday, Oct. 3rd afternoon match against the Blazers at 2 p.m.
