NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane volleyball team (2-2) took one game from No. 2 Stanford (2-1) but was defeated 3-1, Monday evening in Fogelman Arena.
The Cardinal came out strong as they took the first game handily by the score of 15-4, but the Green Wave fought a noble battle to take game two from Stanford, 16-14. In that game alone, leading hitter for the Wave, Kim Sentmore recorded 13 kills, while Tulane held their opponents to .167 hitting percentage. Stanford dominated the rest of the match by winning the final two games, 15-2,15-4.
Sentmore led the Wave, hitting .318 in the match with 23 kills and two blocks. Jennifer Witte recorded a team-high 11 digs and 36 assists.
For Stanford, Sarah Clark hit a .652 with 12 digs and did not record a single error.
Up next for Tulane is the LSU Invitational Sept. 10-11 in Baton Rouge, La.
