
Tulane Volleyball Swats Southern, 3-0

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane (14-8) volleyball team hit .418 as a team en route to a 3-0 win over Southern University (11-15) on Wednesday evening. The game scores were 15-1, 15-3 and 15-3.
With the victory the Green Wave passed last season?s win total improving to a 14-8 overall record. This total is the best since 1996 when the Wave posted 15 wins. TU improves to 23-0 all-time against the Lady Jaguars.
A match high eight kills were recorded by freshman Kim Swafford. She hit .500 on the match (8-1-14). Following Swafford was a trio of veterans, including Ashley Reese, Kim Sentmore and Britney Hurst, who posted seven kills each.
Sentmore led the Wave in digs with seven and hit .700 on the match. Erin Dobyanski tallied six kills. Sentmore (7-0-10), Reese (7-0-18) and Dobyanski (6-0-13) had errorless performances Wednesday evening. Freshman Kari Dickson recorded a career high nine assists.
For Southern, Chanan Newman and Mayumi Takeuchi posted a match high nine digs. Kashanna Bridges led the Lady Jags in kills with five.
Tulane travels to Chicago, Ill., for a Friday evening match with Conference USA rival DePaul. On Saturday, the Wave travels to Milwaukee, Wis., for a match with Marquette. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m.
