NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Patrick Ramsey passed for 380 yards and five touchdowns in Tulane's to a 50-38 victory against over winless Navy on Saturday night.
Ramsey completed 26 of 40 passes and was intercepted twice. He threw three touchdown passes to Adrian Burnette and two to Kerwin Cook. Ramsey's five touchdown passes and Cook's three touchdown receptions tied their career highs.
The Midshipmen (0-9) gained 724 yards, their most ever and the most ever allowed by Tulane (5-5). Navy's previous best was 680 against Colgate in 1998 and Tulane's previous worst was 649 against East Carolina in 1999.
The Midshipmen, who had not passed for 200 yards this season, threw for 362 yards. They also rushed for 362.
Navy had the ball for 14 minutes more than Tulane but committed six turnovers.
After a first half in which the teams combined for 64 points, neither team scored for most of the third quarter.
Navy finally ended the scoring drought on fourth-and-8 when Ed Malinowski threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Josh Bock. That cut the Green Wave's lead to 42-29 with 3:29 left in the third quarter.
Ramsey's 15-yard touchdown pass to Burnette and two-point conversion pass to Mewelde Moore extended the lead to 50-29 with 10:10 left in the game.
The Midshipmen came right back and Brian Broadwater's 81-yard pass to Dominic Bailey set up Broadwater's 1-yard touchdown run. That cut the lead to 50-36 with 8:49 left in the game.
The Green Wave took a safety with 14 seconds left to complete the scoring.
Tulane scored touchdowns on its first four possessions.
