NEW ORLEANS, La. - Erin Dobyanski's career high 26 kills led the Tulane (15-11, 7-6 C-USA) volleyball team to a 3-1 upset over Conference USA rival Houston (18-6, 10-3 C-USA) on Friday. The game scores were 6-15, 15-13, 15-9 and 15-9.
The win is Tulane's first in 14 consecutive meetings with the Cougars and snapped a four match losing streak. The victory tied Tulane's highest win total since 1996.
Tulane dropped the first game of the match 15-6 but went on to take game two 13-15. Momentum was on the Wave's side as they took game three 15-9 and overcame an 8-1 to win game four and the match 15-9.
Dobyanski was on fire with a career high 26 kill performance. She hit .305 on the match, posted four blocks and recorded nine digs. Kim Sentmore had a match high 24 digs and tallied 14 kills. Ashley Reese recorded 20 digs while Lauren Jones- McClain had 21. Britney Hurst put down 11 kills coupled with seven blocks. Karlyn Daly recorded 10 digs.
Leading the Cougars was Bobbi Stewart with 17 kills. Gabriela Carbone recorded 18 digs.
Tulane hosts South Florida in Fogelman Arena Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.
