NEW ORLEANS, La. - Red shirt freshman Aaron Feldman recorded Tulane's (2-0) first homerun of the season, starting a fifth inning rally which led the Green Wave to a 4-2 victory over San Deigo State (5-5) on Saturday.
After RBI singles by both teams in the first inning the game remained tied until SDSU's Brandon Rogers hit a homerun to put the Aztecs up 2-1in the top of the fifth. In Tulane's first at bat of the fifth inning, Feldman belted a homerun over the left field fence to even the score at two runs each. Later in the fifth Mickey McKee singled to center sending James Jurries home and gave the Wave a 3-2 advantage. Tulane secured the lead with an RBI single by Jon Kaplan in the sixth.
Tulane's McKee went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Feldman went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Kaplan went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Green Wave pitcher Jared Berkowitz (1-0) went eight-plus innings and picked up his first win of the season. Berkowitz struck out six, walked one and allowed two runs. Brandon Belanger replaced Berkowitz in the ninth and got his second save of the season.
San Diego State's Chris Hartshorn (0-1) picked up his first loss of the season. He gave up four runs in five innings and struck out one.
The teams play the final game of the series on Sunday at Turchin Stadium. Fist pitch is 1:00 p.m.
