MIAMI, Fla. - - The Tulane men's tennis team won the crucial doubles point to post a 4-3 victory over South Florida in Miami on Saturday.
The Green Wave opened the contest by winning two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Derya Rose and Christoph Ortner posted an 8-6 win over USF's team of Steve Caprioti and Fabio Tintori at the No. 1 spot, while the Wave duo of Lundberg and Viljanen won the No. 2 doubles spot with an 8-4 victory over Jit Shah and Eric Gildhorn. South Florida's team of Nadim Naser and Boris Babic claimed the No. 3 spot with a 9-8 win over Esat Tanik and Blake Baratz, but the Wave entered singles play with a 1-0 lead.

Westerberg was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over USF's Jit Shah at the No. 5 spot, while Viljanen posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Eric Gildhorn at the No. 6 spot.
"This was a good win," Tulane head coach Robert Klein said. "Derya Rose played extremely well. He really had a surge of energy and pure desire to help push both himself and Christoph Ortner in the No. 1 doubles match."
Tulane returns to action on Feb. 18, as the Green Wave travel to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia.
