NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane (11-7) baseball team recorded a season high 17 runs and 19 hits as they steam rolled Manhattan (6-4) 17-2 on Saturday.
The Green Wave bats came out swinging as freshman Beau Hearod recorded a single game high five RBI in five at bats. Hearod was 3-for-5 with one run and his fifth double of the season. Jake Gautreau sent home four runs and scored a pair of runs. Nick Bourgeois was 3-for-4 with three RBI and pitched two scoreless innings. Andy Cannizaro recorded a pair of runs and RBI and went 3-for-5 on the afternoon.
Barth Melius (2-0) got the win for Tulane as he went six innings and scattered five hits. He gave up two runs, one earned, and struck out three.
Steve Adams (2-1) was the losing pitcher. He gave up six runs and walked five through four innings of work.
Manhattan's Wendell Anderson recorded the team's only RBI of the day. Russell Tavares was 4-for-5 with one run scored.
The teams wrap up the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The games are scheduled to be broadcast on 88.3 FM WRBH and on the internet via www.broadcast.com.
