Women's Tennis Claims Third at C-USA Tournament

TAMPA, Fla. - - The Tulane women's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over Marquette to capture third place at the Conference USA Women's Tennis Tournament.
The Green Wave, who also finished third last season, won four of six singles matches before clinching the win in doubles.
Anna Monhartova gave Tulane a win at the No. 1 singles spot, recording a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win over Marquette's Elisa Penalvo. The Wave's Jessica Kessler was a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 winner over Julia Sapozhnikova at the No. 4 position, while Anneli Axsater picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Anna Pavlovic at the No. 5 spot. Joyce Bergman claimed a win at the No. 6 spot, posting a 6-2, 6-0 win against Marquette's Christine DiMasi.
Marquette did claim a pair of wins in singles play. Laura Garcia turned in a 7-6, 6-3 win against Maiko Cook at the No. 2 spot, while Sara Fernandez was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Tulane's Julie Morris at the No. 3 spot.
