NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Tulane (1-0) volleyball team won its season opener against Northwestern State 3-0 on Friday night, 15-6, 15-11, 15-2.
The Green Wave rolled through the first match of the year and was led by sophomore Lindsey Bennett, who recorded 10 kills and 12 digs. Bennett hit .440 for the match.
Sophomore Britney Hurst and freshman Lauren Jones-McClain put down 10 kills each. Jones-McClain recorded 9 kills and four blocks in her Green Wave debut. Hurst had four block and two service aces.
The Wave won game one handily by the score of 15-6. The Demons put up a fight in game two but TU prevailed 15-11. Hurst put on a display in game three as she served 12 straight points to give the Wave a 15-2 win in game three and the match.
For Northwestern State, DyAnna DuBois and Elizabeth Perez recorded eight kills.
In other action at the Kathy Trosclair Invitational Troy State defeated Centenary 15-8, 15-7, 15-8.
Tulane plays Centenary at 3 p.m. and Troy State at 7 p.m.
