Women's Volleyball Wins Trosclair Invitational

NEW OLEANS, La. -- The Tulane (3-0) volleyball team won the Kathy Trosclair Invitational as they swept both Centenary (0-3) (15-6, 15-4, 15-3) and Troy State (2-1) (15-3, 15-8, 15-6) on Saturday. Wave sophomore Lindsey Bennett was named the tournament MVP.
This is the first time since 1994 that the Green Wave volleyball team has won its first three matches.
Tulane and Troy State, the only remaining undefeated teams in the tournament, met in the championship match. The Green Wave out hit Troy State .343 to .108. Senior Kim Sentmore put down 14 kills, and is 10 kills shy of career No. 1,000. Britney Hurst led the Wave in digs with 11, while Bennett recorded six digs and 10 kills.
In the early match against Centenary, Sentmore recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. She served a career high four aces in the match. Bennett added 10 kills. The team had a season high 12 service aces against the Ladies.
Along with the MVP Bennett, Tulane placed four players on the all-tournament team including Hurst, Jennifer Witte, Sentmore and Lauren Jones-McClain.
Up next, the Green Wave hosts the Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic Sept. 8-9 in the Reily Student Recreation Center. The tournament features Wisconsin and Colorado, along with in state rivals LSU and New Orleans.
