
Tulane Volleyball Blanks LSU And Takes One From UNO

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane volleyball team (5-0) remains undefeated against in state opponents as they defeated New Orleans 3-1 (15-8, 15-12, 13-15, 15-3) and LSU 3-0 (15-12, 15-12, 15-11) in the Nokia Sugar Bowl Volleyball Classic on Friday.
This is the first win Tulane has recorded over LSU (2-2) in three years, snapping a six-match losing streak. Tulane took the first two games 15-12 and overcame a 9-5 Tiger lead in the third to take the win 15-11.
Kim Sentmore chalked 17 kills and 15 digs, for her second double-double performance of the day. Erin Dobyanski recorded 10 kills and 11 digs, while Lindsey Bennett put down 12 kills. Freshman Kim Swafford had nine kills, three blocks and a match high five service aces.
Against UNO (2-3), Sentmore led the Wave to a 15-8, 15-12, (13), 15-3 victory with a career high 30 kills. The win is the third straight ?W? the Green Wave has put up against the Privateers.
In the second game of the match, with the score tied at four, Sentmore spiked her 1,000-career kill. Sentmore and freshman Lauren Jones-McClain each recorded 18 digs. Dobyanski and Bennett each tied career highs in kills with 12 and 15 respectively. Setter Jennifer Witte had 66 assists through the four games.
In other Nokia Sugar Bowl action, No. 15 Wisconsin rolled past Colorado 3-0 (15-11, 15-3, 15-7). The Badgers? Jenny Maastricht had a match high 12 kills as Wisconsin out hit the Buffalo?s., .214 to.000. Sherisa Livingston played a solid defense for Wisconsin recording seven blocks.
Tulane takes on Wisconsin at noon, following the 10 a.m. LSU/UNO match. . Colorado and UNO square off at 4 p.m. and the tournament is capped off with a match between Wisconsin and LSU at 6 p.m.
