NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University defeated the University of New Orleans in both men's and women's cross country action Friday at Levee Oaks Park.
For the men, Tulane took four of the top five slots and finished with 19 points, to the Privateers' 36. Freshman Phillip Aagaard (Linkoping, Sweden) made his debut for the Wave and won the two-mile race with a time of 10:14. Freshman Joakim Daun (Klintehamn, Sweden) also ran his first race for Tulane, finishing second in 10:19. Freshman Will Landry (Cade, La.) and sophomore Ryan Gallagher (New Orleans, La.) took fourth and fifth place, respectively.
On the women's side, UNO took the top two spots, led by Pavlina Vondrkova, who ran the two miles in 11:41. However, the Green Wave held third, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth to edge the Privateers by one point, 27-28. Senior Lyndia Galka (Fort Stewart, Ga.) was the top finisher for Tulane, covering the course in 12:56. Sophomores Carlyne Pradieu (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Sheena Garwood (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
