Bergman Wins Two at ITA Event

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Tulane women's tennis standout Joyce Bergman won a pair of matches to advance to the Round of 32 at the ITA Southwest Regional held at TCU's Bayard Friedman Tennis Center on Friday.
Seeded 10th in the 128-player draw, Bergman cruised through her first two matches. She opened the day with a 6-0, 6-3 win over McNeese State's Joanna Tyreus before posting a 6-3, 6-3 win over Anna Yenyk of UL-Monroe in the second round.
Bergman will next face Texas A&M's Ashley Hedberg, who is seeded 23rd, in the Round of 32.
Bergman was a second-team All-Conference USA selection last season after helping the Green Wave win its first-ever Conference USA Tournament title. She won nine of her final 12 matches and was undefeated at the C-USA Tournament. Bergman also helped the Green Wave win its first-ever NCAA Tournament match, coincidentally against Texas A&M.
