ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Patrick Ramsey threw three touchdowns passes to Roydell Williams, and tailback Mewelde Moore had 261 total yards as Tulane beat winless Navy 42-28 on Saturday.
Moore ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, and caught nine passes for 130. He's the first Tulane player to reach 100 yards in both rushing and receiving, and the first to total 2,000 yards rushing and 1,000 receiving in his career.
Ramsey completed 36 of 49 passes for a season-high 442 yards, a record for the 43-year-old Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Tulane (3-8) jumped to an early 21-0 lead. Ramsey completed eight straight to open the game, then threw an incompletion before handing to Moore for an 11-yard TD run.
Ramsey combined with Williams for a 35-yard touchdown play on Tulane's next possession, and Tulane stretched the lead to 21-0 in the opening minute of the second quarter on a 3-yard run by Moore, only the second rush of the game by the Green Wave.
Navy (0-8) closed to 21-14 by halftime, on a pair of touchdown runs by Brian Madden, who had a career-high 201 rushing yards on 33 carries. Madden added another touchdown in the final period, and combined with slotback Tony Lane on a touchdown pass for Navy's other score.
Williams took a 10-yard pass from Ramsey early in the third quarter, to make it 28-14. The Mids responded with a long drive, but Madden lost a fumble at the four yard line. Tulane marched 96 yards in five plays, capped by Ramsey's 62-yard pass to Williams.
On Navy's next possession, Lynaris Elpheage picked off Madden's pass and returned it 48 yards for another score, to put the Green Wave up 42-14 with 1:51 left in the third quarter.
Tulane missed a fourth quarter field-goal attempt, and turned it over twice, allowing Navy to mount one last threat. The Mids had the ball in Tulane territory, down two touchdowns, with 6:35 remaining, but failed to score.
