
Women's Tennis Signs German Standout

NEW ORLEANS, La - - The Tulane women's tennis team has signed German tennis standout Jenny Kuehn to a National Letter of Intent, Green Wave head tennis coach David Schumacher has announced.
Currently attending school in Leipzig, Germany, Kuehn will join the Green Wave next Fall.
"We are very excited to have Jenny join us next year," Tulane head coach David Schumacher said. "She is a very determined player who has the ability and desire to be a major factor in women's college tennis."
Kuehn won the national Junior Championship in 1999 and represented Germany in the European Junior Championships that year. She also played in the Helveti Cup in Athens, Greece, and won several Saxonian State championships.
"I had the opportunity to watch Jenny compete in a couple of tournaments last summer and she is the type of player, student and person that will represent the highest standards of Tulane University," Schumacher added.
Kuehn, who attended Redlands East Valley High School in Redlands, Calif., for a year, comes from an athletic family. Her father, Dieter, played on the German Democratic Republic National Soccer team, winning a silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games. Her brother, Andre, also plays tennis and soccer.
