
Monhartova Falls at National Indoor Championships

FARMER's BRANCH, Texas - - Tulane women's tennis standout Anna Monhartova dropped her opening match in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Thursday.
Despite winning the first set, Monhartova came up on the short end of a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 scoreline to UCLA's Sara Walker. Monhartova entered the tournament ranked 10th in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings and was a 5-8 alphabetical seed at the Indoor Championships. Walker was ranked third in the preseason ITA rankings.
The Indoor Championships are the third leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Grand Slam and are hosted by Southern Methodist University at the Brookhaven Country Club.
The Green Wave women's tennis team opens up the 2001 dual match season on Saturday, Feb. 3, when Tulane plays host to Penn State at the Goldring Tennis Complex.
