NEW ORLEANS, La. - South Alabama posted wins in four of six singles matches en route to a 5-2 win over the Tulane women?s tennis team at Goldring Stadium on Saturday.
Joyce Bergman and Nancy Kockott posted singles wins for Tulane. Bergman was a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win over Silvia Sosnarova at the No. 2 spot, while Kockott posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Iva Puflerova in the No. 4 singles match.
In No. 1 singles, Tulane?s Anna Monhartova dropped a 6-2, 7-6 decision to Martina Ondrejkova, while the Wave?s Julie Morris came up on the short end of a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 scoreline to Nienki Scheltens at the No. 3 match.
South Alabama's Viktoria Stoklasova was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Anneli Axsater at No. 5 singles, while Tulanes Maiko Cook dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Josien Boverhof at No. 6 singles.
South Alabama had opened the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to claim the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.
