ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tulane's Anneli Axsater defeated Gwen Behrendt of Texas-Arlington 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 at No. 4 singles to give the Green Wave a 4-3 victory over the Mavericks Thursday.
Tulane and UT-Arlington split the six singles matches with Tulane getting victories from Anna Monhartova at No. 1, Julie Morris at No. 2 and Axsater. The Green Wave also won the doubles point as the teams of Morris and Joyce Bergman and Monhartova and Olga Mikhailova claimed doubles wins.
The Green Wave, ranked No. 49 in the nation, is 2-0 on the season. Tulane meets Oklahoma State in Arlington at 2 p.m. Friday and takes on TCU Saturday in Fort Worth at 1 p.m.
The Wave's next home match is this Monday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Goldring Tennis Stadium on the TU campus.
