Tulane Women's Tennis Falls To Oklahoma State

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tulane's Nancy Kockott defeated Oklahoma State's Kate Vasylyeva at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-2 to provide the lone bright spot of the afternoon for the Green Wave women's tennis team in a 6-1 loss to No. 42 ranked Oklahoma State Friday.
The Green Wave lost a pair of three-set matches, including one that went to a third-set tiebreaker as Joyce Bergman fell to Dominica Olszewska of Oklahoma State 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. At No. 6 singles, Maiko Cook also lost in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 as Tulane lost five of six singles matches.
Tulane also lost the doubles point after Maria Phillips and Ashleigh Dolman nipped Bergman and Julie Morris 9-8 at No. 1 doubles and Kockott and Lucy Wood fell at the No. 2 spot.
The Green Wave, ranked No. 49 in the nation, fell to 2-1 on the season. Tulane takes on TCU Saturday in Fort Worth at 1 p.m. The Wave plays host to Florida State on Monday, Feb. 12 at the Goldring Tennis Complex on the TU campus. That match begins at 3 p.m.
