Women's Tennis Picks Up Two Wins

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University swept Louisiana-Lafayette 6-0 and cruised to a 6-1 victory over American University in a women's tennis doubleheader at Goldring Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.
In the Green Wave's first match against ULL, Tulane won all six singles matches. The No. 1 seeded singles match between Tulane's senior Anna Monhartova (Plzen, Czech Republic) and ULL's Arina Uratani was the only match that went three sets. Monhartova prevailed with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win. Tulane won at the third doubles flight, the only doubles match played.
Against American, the Green Wave also rolled through singles, dropping only the No. 5 flight match. The Wave won all three doubles matches against the Eagles.
On the day, Tulane had three players win two singles matches each, including Monhartova and juniors Joyce Bergman (Pinehurst, N.C.) and Maiko Cook (Mount Pleasant, S.C.)
The women return to action on Saturday, March 17 at the Goldring Tennis Complex hosting Tulsa in a 1 p.m. match.
