
Women's Tennis Falls to Houston

HOUSTON, Texas - - The Houston women's tennis team used four singles wins to claim a 4-3 win over Tulane in Houston on Sunday.
The Green Wave had won five straight matches, but fall to 7-10 overall with the loss.
Tulane opened the dual match with an early 1-0 lead after winning two of three doubles matches. The Wave's Joyce Bergman and Julie Morris posted an 8-3 win over Houston's Karine Urbin and Sarah Flood at the No. 1 spot, while also picking up a win at No. 3 doubles when the Cougars defaulted.
In singles play, Houston rallied to win four of the six matches to claim the team victory. Tulane's two wins came at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. Morris cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Urbin at the No. 2 spot, while Olga Mikhailova was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Annie Rapp in the No. 6 match. Houston did claim a pair of three-set victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Tulane returns to action on Wednesday, April 4, when the Green Wave play host to in-state rival LSU.
