Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight

WICHITA, Kans. - Tulane University closed a two-match road trip with its second victory, a 5-2 upending of Wichita State in men's tennis action on Sunday morning.
Tulane, ranked No. 43 in the nation, had a surprise in doubles as freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Vantaa, Finland) were defeated 8-6. It is the first loss of the season for the Wave pair, who are ranked No. 6 in the nation. However, despite the loss, Tulane earned the doubles point. Senior Derya Rose (Greenwich, Conn.) and sophomore Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) won 8-5 at No. 2 and sophomores Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico) and Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) had an 8-4 win at third doubles.
In singles play, Romero rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1. Kogan did not play singles. Lievano, Westerberg and Rose all had straight set wins in singles play as well to lift the Wave to the victory.
Tulane is back in action Thursday, hosting Louisiana-Lafayette at Goldring Tennis Complex at 5 p.m.
