Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University rolled to a 5-2 victory over No. 66 Virginia Tech in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Complex.
Tulane (11-8), ranked No. 43 in the nation, has now won four straight matches.
The Wave earned the doubles point as the sixth-ranked tandem of freshman Michael Kogan (Kfar Saba, Israel) and senior Mikko Viljanen (Vantaa, Finland) cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1, while sophomores Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico) and Jorge Lievano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) won, 8-5, at No. 3.
Kogan, ranked No. 29 in the nation in singles, won 6-2, 7-5 at the top flight match, while Romero, who is ranked No. 84, won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2. Romero, the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week last week, has won 10 of his last 11 matches, with his lone loss coming to Arkansas' Oskar Johansson, the No. 1 ranked player in the nation.
Lievano and sophomore Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) also notched straight-set victories.
Tulane closes the regular season on Friday, playing at Southern Miss. The Green Wave then hosts the Conference USA Championship from April 19-22.
