Julie Morris and Anneli Axsater each posted a win to lead the Tulane women's tennis team on the second day of the Green Wave Classic held at the Goldring Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Morris posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over South Alabama's Josien Boverhof, while Axsater posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Louisiana-Monroe's Kelly Bucewicz. Both matches were in the A singles draw.
Joyce Bergman and Maiko Cook were not as fortunate, however. Bergman dropped a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 decision to Ole Miss' Sabrina Peppl, while Cook came up short against ULM's Matilde Taborga, 6-1, 6-3.
In the B singles, Lucy Wood dropped a 6-4, 6-4 match against Ole Miss' Camillia Gould, while Karen Duchin picked up a win against SLU's Laura Frost after Frost defaulted the match.
In B doubles, the Tulane team of Axsater and Wood posted an 8-3 win over the ULL tandem of Singh and Cowieson to advance to Sunday's championship match in that division.
The Green Wave Classic returns to action on Sunday.
