Tulane Hosts Men's Tennis Invitational This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University will host its annual Tulane Men's Tennis Invitational tournament this weekend at the Goldring Tennis Stadium. The tourney features seven schools; in addition to Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Middle Tennessee State, UNO, San Diego State and Southern Miss will compete in the event.

The Invitational will have three flights for both singles and doubles. The top flight in singles and doubles will be a round-robin event featuring players competing for national rankings. Singles players are guaranteed four matches in the round-robin format.
The "#1" and "#2" Flights will be traditional brackets divided according to skill levels.
"The fall season is about improving and preparing for the spring semester." Green Wave head coach Robert Klein said. "You must hit the ground running in January. The fall also allows me to evaluate the level of the players."
Tulane will be led by a pair of top performers as junior Michael Kogan (Kfar-Saba, Israel), ranked No. 17 in the nation, and senior Victor Romero (Atizapan, Mexico), the No. 39 rated player, will both compete in the highest flight. The pair is ranked No. 5 in the country as a doubles duo.
In addition to Kogan and Romero, San Diego State will bring the tandem of Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo, the No. 3 ranked double steam in the country. Maiberger is ranked No. 9 in the country in singles. LSU will be led by 68th-ranked Ryan Fisher in the event.
This weekend's event is free of charge and concessions will be available for fans. Results will be posted on www.TulaneGreenWave.com after each days' matches are completed.
