NEW ORLEANS, La. - This week was awesome for the Tulane Volleyball team. We lost two tough matches last week against Cincinnati and Louisville, but were tough enough to bounce back and win three straight matches.
Our first match on Wednesday was against UNO, our cross town rival. Everyone knows that playing at UNO is tough for the Tulane Green Wave, because UNO's gym is such a hostile environment. The fans hate us, but that is just motivation for me and my teammates. We love to play where we are not wanted, because the win is so much sweeter. Anyway, we swept them in three and played as if their fans were cheering for us.
Our weekend in North Carolina was long but fruitful. First, we traveled to Charlotte on Thursday and played them on Friday. We lost the first game, but came back to win the next three in a row. After the match, we drove 4 ? hours that night, to Greenville. We were supposed to travel and sleep but "The Green Mile" was on and most of us got no sleep since that movie is so good. We arrived in Greenville around 2 a.m. exhausted, but we were well rested after sleeping until 2 p.m., and prepared after scouting, to defeat East Carolina. Now it is 11:01 p.m. and we are "on the road again" headed back to Charlotte.
This weekend meant a lot to the success of the Green Wave because Charlotte was ranked ahead of us. We are now 6-4 in conference and it feels great knowing that we could finish the season 9-4 in the league. We only have three more conference matches before the conference tournament - Southern Miss, Houston, and Memphis - and need all the support we can get.
