Patrick Ramsey: I am here and ready to go!
justin(calgary): Mr. Ramsey, I have noticed in several mock drafts that you are projected to fall to the Redskins. How would you feel about playing Steve Spurriors fun and gun offence in Washington. Good luck next season
Patrick Ramsey: I would be absolutely thrilled to play that offense.. it has been so productive. And Spurrier is such a great teacher so that would be fine with me.
Kyle Hearn Howell MI: Was it hard to lose those 20 pounds, and was it worth it?
Patrick Ramsey: My trainer did a fabulous job teaching me how to eat right and stay healthy in the future. I needed to do it for mobility purposes. I'm very glad I did it and I think it has helped me greatly through this process. It was tough .. I ran my butt off!
TREA(New Orleans): Hey Patrick good job on your career at Tulane! I am good friends w/ Brandt Quick so I have been to alot of your games,I think you will do well in the NFL but some people say your speed is a down fall what do you think? And I fthe Saints drafted you in the 2nd would you be happy to stay in the N.O. Thanks
Patrick Ramsey: I would say that is something they may have held against me months ago but I have really improved on my speed and mobility. I have all the aspects in my game to be successful and I am very confident. I will get done what is asked of me by the coaching staff.
Toby: Patrick, As the draft is approaching your stock seems to be rising, with most ranking you third behind Carr and Harrington. What is an average day like for you at this point and what teams have shown the most interest in you? Good luck
Patrick Ramsey: Great question .. it's been quite busy. Coupled with the fact I'm getting married this weekend! I've been trying to help my fiancee prepare. Typical day I get up about 8, stretch and warm up, then run until 10, then lift till 12:30 and eat lunch. Then work on specifics till 2:30 and help my fiancee after that. I try to get some fishing in and some interviews inbetween.
Mark (Topeka): There is some talk here in KC that DV might try and get you in the 2nd round. Have you had any talks with the Chiefs?
Patrick Ramsey: I have had talks with them .. very pleasant conversations. Coach Vermeil will do a great job with that team. I love what that team has to offer. I have had some talks with them though.
Alex Keaton (New York): Hey Pat,
What is it about the Tulane coaching staff that keeps producing great quarterbacks like yourself year after year. Good Luck in 2002!
Patrick Ramsey: Wow .. good question. I would have to say they are so committed to throwing the ball around. That is how they score points and move the ball. They also recruit great receivers. And they are good at coverage reading.
Jesse: Hello. I was wondering, with Draft Day approaching, how nervous are you? And in addition, what do you expect your role to be in your first NFL season?
Patrick Ramsey: This is the honest truth.. I"m not nervous because I just can't control it. I've come to grips with that. Anxious yes, but not nervous.
Derek (New Orleans): Patrick, What abilities do you need improve upon to make you a much better QB?
Patrick Ramsey: I'm a perfectionist so I would want to improve my fundamentals and just hone my game overall. Just keep my game polished.
Jason: How's the fishing in Ruston?
Patrick Ramsey: It's great! I've been catching a bunch of fish and just trying to relax. But it's raining right now.
JC: How do you compare to the other 2 QBs ahead of you on most draft boards?
Patrick Ramsey: I don't want to take anything away from them, and I had the chance to throw with David at the Senior Bowl, but I can throw the ball with anyone. I haven't got the chance to throw the ball with Joey much but I"m very confident in my ability to throw with those guys. The reason I have moved up on the boards is other people feel the same way.
Joe(WS): If you could pick one receiver to throw to, who would it be? How about Randy Moss?
Patrick Ramsey: I've thrown to him and it's Dante Stallworth. He is outstanding and a great guy. Somewhere down the road I would love to be teammates with him.
Shea: Some people have the Packers looking at you to be an heir apparent to Brett Favre...have you talked to them?
Patrick Ramsey: That would be great.. Favre is a winner and a great player. I would love to learn from him. I really want to learn from successful people who really know what they are doing. The weather would be just fine with me. I'm a hunter so I can get used to it.
Jacob (Austin): Congratulations on your impending marriage! What would you say is your strongest characteristic as a QB ? And do you think you could go as high as the Bills #4 pick in the second round?
Patrick Ramsey: I think accuracy and velocity. Also leadership skills. I'll be a lead by example guy at all times. I'll earn the respect of my teammates.
Basil (Torquay): Headed to my first New Orleans Jazz Fest in 3 weeks. Any advice? Favorite local music club? Musician?
Patrick Ramsey: I wish I had some words of wisdom for you but I didn't go out much .. I was with my family and fiancee. Sorry!
Beau: Is there a honeymoon...or does that wait until after the draft?
Patrick Ramsey: Actually, we will leave Saturday night after the wedding and come back Thursday before the draft .. we are going to the Florida Keys.
KB (KY): kb(ky) I've heard that the Bengals are very interested in drafting you. How would you feel being drafted by an organization many feel is the worst in the NFL, and how would you feel competing for a starting job with Kitna and Smith?
Patrick Ramsey: It would be a challenge to bring that team back but it would be a goal of mine. They are on the right track and battled through some problems last year, injuries, etc. That would be a great place to be and I could learn a lot.
Rich Worner: Hey man,
Go Herd! Just kidding, just curious how you are adjusting to the life of a pro-football player?
By the way, aren't I the best equipment man you've ever had?
Patrick Ramsey: Absolutely the best, no question! I guess the NFL lifestyle .. it's hard to say .. I haven't experienced it yet but I don't think it will be too difficult. I'll be focused on being the best player and husband I can be. But I'm sure it'll be a change.
You can evaluate how I'm doing because I'm sure we'll be in touch.
Rooster(Mora): Which Quarterback was your role model as a kid?
Patrick Ramsey: Great question.. I was always a Joe Montana, Elway, Marino fan. I was friends with Bert Jones and really looked up to him. Also Brett Favre when I was in high school.
MIKE (SAN JOSE): Any chance you could go in the first round?
Patrick Ramsey: I'm not an evaluator but I have been told late first or early second. Kiper says I may be late first rounder and some guys say second round. You just don't know. I'll have to wait it out and see.
Zack St. John, Griswold CT: Hey Patrick, Seeing your success at Tulane, who have you molded your quarterbacking skills after?
Patrick Ramsey: I don't think I realize I'm taking things from those guys but my coach tells me I have a little Favre in me, a little Manning, etc. So I guess I take some things from them subconciously but I don't really realize it.
Patrick Ramsey: I really appreciate all the interest and hopefully we can do this again after the Draft .. thanks everyone!
