Wave Track Completes Day One at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Tulane University freshman Helmi Leppanen (Kerava, Finland) took fourth place in the Championship Division of the javelin throw on Thursday at the Penn Relays. The Championship Division features many of the top competitors in the nation.
Freshman Jelena Jurlina (Zadar, Croatia) also had a strong effort, taking fifth place in the Championship Division of the discus with a throw of 145-09. Jurlina threw the javelin 137-05 for sixth place in the College Division.
The Green Wave also had three women's relay teams in action. The Wave's 4x100 team won its preliminary heat with a season-best time of 47.57. Tulane's distance medley relay team and 4x400 team, placed 12th and eighth, respectively.
In action Friday will be the men's 4x100 and distance medley relay teams for Tulane. Alex Lakhanpal, Jamal Jones, Derrick Joseph and Nick Narcisse will run the 4x100 at 12 noon, while Philip Aagaard, Joakim Daun, Clement Abai and Erik Emilsson will run the DMR at 3:30 p.m.
