Tulane Men's Tennis To Open Fall Season

TULSA, Okla. - Tulane University will open its 2002-2003 men's tennis season this weekend with the Hurricane Invitational at the University of Tulsa. In action at the tournament will be three individuals: junior Hannu Piiroinen (Tampere, Finland) and freshmen Patrizio Maucci (Neuilly, France) and Mahir Nisar (Lahore, Pakistan).
The tourney, which begins on Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, will feature individuals from eight colleges, including Arkansas, Drake, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State, Tulsa and Tulane.
Matches will be played all day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Full results will be posted at the end of the day at www.TulsaHurricane.com, while Tulane individual results will be available at www.TulaneGreenWave.com.
In the main draw singles, Piiroinen will open action at 9 a.m., battling Aleksey Bubis from Arkansas. Nisar will open his career at 9 a.m. also, playing Oklahoma's Matt Long. Maucci will make his debut at 10:30 a.m., meeting the winner of an early match between Tally Parker from Arkansas and Matt Lopez from Oklahoma.
