
Two Women's Tennis Players Earn National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - A pair of Tulane women's tennis players are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll, according to the organization's website.
Senior Julie Morris is ranked 66th in the first poll of the year, while freshman Julie Smekodub is listed 95th. TCU's Paty Aburto is the only other Conference USA player to receive a ranking, checking in at No. 72.
Morris was ranked as high as 83rd by the ITA this past spring, while current Wave sophomore Maria Ivanov was ranked as high as 87th in singles this past spring.
The members of the Tulane women's tennis team will play in various individual tournaments throughout the fall semester. Tulane will play host to the Green Wave Classic beginning Oct. 4 at the Goldring Tennis Complex. The tournament will feature some of the top collegiate players in the nation, including players from No. 10 Texas, No. 26 South Alabama, No. 28 TCU and No. 51 LSU.
