Women's Tennis To Play Host To SMU

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The Tulane women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, as the Green Wave play host to SMU at the Goldring Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Tulane enters Friday's match with a perfect 6-0 record. Friday's match is Tulane's first at home since a Feb. 1 meeting with Florida State. The Green Wave had played three straight road matches, picking up wins over Mississippi, Mississippi State and Rice in the process. The Green Wave are currently ranked 37th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, with three individuals and a doubles team ranked among the nation's best.
Freshman Julie Smekodub is currently ranked 10th in singles by the ITA, with fellow freshman Jenny Kuhn checking in at 101st. More impressively, however, the duo teams to form the ITA's No. 1 ranked doubles team. Senior Julie Morris is currently 125th in the ITA singles rankings, though she is sidelined with an injury.
SMU is 8-1 on the season and is ranked 71st by the ITA. Their top singles player is Jenny Langer, who is ranked 100th in the ITA singles rankings.
