NEW ORLEANS, La. - -
The Tulane women's basketball team closes out the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, as the Green Wave play host to Conference USA rival TCU at Fogelman Arena. The game is set for a 1 p.m. CST tip-off and will be broadcast to a national television audience by ESPN2.
The game will be Tulane's second appearance on ESPN2 so far this season, as the Wave's Feb. 2 meeting with Cincinnati was also shown on the network. That game resulted in a 62-53 Tulane win, snapping Cincinnati's 21-game home winning streak, which at the time was the second-longest in the nation.
Tulane enters Sunday's game with a 17-7 overall record and is 8-3 in Conference USA play. The Green Wave have won three straight, including Friday night's 65-62 triumph over league foe Houston. The game will mark the final home appearances of Tulane seniors Jessica Carroll, Teana McKiver, Gwen Slaughter and Britt Themann.
TCU, last season's Conference USA regular season champion, is 13-12 overall and 6-5 in C-USA play after posting a 69-63 win over Southern Miss on Friday. The Horned Frogs have also won three straight
Tulane holds a 4-1 edge in the all-time series against TCU, though the first three meetings between the two schools took place more than 10 years ago as the Horned Frogs are in just their second season of play in Conference USA. Last season, Tulane posted a pair of overtime wins against ranked TCU squads. The Wave recorded a 63-59 overtime triumph over then-No. 24 TCU in Fort Worth during the regular season. Then, in the semifinals of the C-USA Tournament, Tulane turned in a 80-76 overtime victory over then-No. 23 TCU to reach the championship game for the fourth straight season.
Following Sunday's game, Tulane will close out the 2002-03 regular season with road games against East Carolina and Charlotte.
