PALO ALTO, Calif. - Tulane University was handed its fourth defeat of the year, all to higher-ranked teams, as No. 6 Stanford rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Green Wave at the Taube Tennis Center on Wednesday.
The only win on the day for the Wave came at No. 1 doubles, where Tulane's seventh-ranked duo of Michael Kogan and Victor Romero had a hard-fought 9-8 victory over Scott Lipsky and David Martin, who are ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Five of Stanford's singles players hold national rankings as well, while Kogan is the only ranked singles player for Tulane. Kogan was the only one to win a set in the match against the powerful Cardinal, as his match went to a super-tiebreaker, where he fell, 10-6.
The Wave is back in action on Friday, playing at No. 18 Pepperdine on Friday evening.
