
Kuhn, Kockott In Action At HEB-Baylor Fall Invitational

WACO, Texas - - Tulane women's tennis standout Jenny Kuhn reached the finals of the HEB-Baylor Fall Invitational at the Baylor Tennis Center on Sunday.
Junior Nancy Kockott was also in action in singles and the Wave duo paired up in doubles action as well.
Kuhn, who enters the Fall season ranked 46th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, received the No. 2 seed in the Gold Draw. She earned a bye in the first round before beginning play with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Mississippi State's Yumi Ueda in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals, she posted a 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 win over SMU's Svetlana Kouzmenko, the tournament's eighth seed, before topping Baylor's fourth-seeded Daria Popapova, 6-0, 6-0, in the semifinals. Kuhn, the reigning Conference USA Player and Freshman of the Year, was scheduled to face Arizona's Maja Mlakar, the draw's No. 1 seed, in the championship match, but that contest was cancelled due to rain in the Waco area.
Kockott participated in the Green Draw, reaching the round of the 16 before falling to eventual champion Petra Dizdar of Texas, 6-0, 6-0. Dizdar was the draw's No. 2 seed. Kockott opened the tournament with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 win over Kentucky Sarah Foster in the Round of 32. After losing to Dizdar, Kockott advanced to the consolation round, where she posted wins over Texas-Arlington's Daniela Novakova (6-4, 7-6) and SMU's Brook Rambally (6-0, 6-0) before withdrawing against eventual consolation winner Danielle Petrisko of Kentucky in the semifinals.
In doubles action, Kuhn and Kockot, ranked 26th by the ITA, lost their opening match to the Texas-Arlington duo of Cizova and Novakova, 8-6. In the consolation round, the Tulane tandem posted a 9-7 win over Arizona's Ferreira and Rochefort before withdrawing against the SMU team of Evans and Langer.
