NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Freshman Dorottya Magas was chosen as the Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.
Magas, a newcomer from Budapest, Hungary, won the award after leading Tulane to a pair of road wins against ranked Pac 10 opponents, winning the clinching match in both contests. She opened the weekend with a 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 win over Arizona State's Sabrina Capannolo, fighting off a match point in the second set to help the Wave claim a 4-3 victory over the 47th-ranked Sun Devils. She then posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arizona's Jessie Rochefort in Tulane's 4-3 triumph over the 36th-ranked Wildcats.
In addition to her singles wins, she teamed with junior Nancy Kockott to post wins at No. 2 doubles against both Arizona State and Arizona.
